Chemical and Structural Properties of Dry and Wet Torrefied Biomass

The study analyzed the physical and chemical properties of dry-torrefied (DT) wet-torrefied (WT) biomass. Hemicellulose was mainly degraded by torrefaction, contents glucan lignin were relatively increased. degradation rate biomass higher in WT (18.25%–23.13%) than DT (3.12%–3.83%), it increased with increasing reaction time. Torrefaction improved crystallinity from 36.88% raw material to a maximum value 60.97% subjected wet torrefaction for 30 min (WT-30). thermal stability torrefied WT-10 (17.21%), WT-60 (15.38%), DT-60 (8.74%) compared that (2.35%). hydrophobicity fine particle distribution lowest water absorption (3.08%) highest particles (8.20%) being observed
